ATLANTA -- Max Fried has been awarded an All-MLB Team selection for a third straight year.

Fried gained a Second Team All-MLB selection, as announced on Monday night. The veteran left-handed pitcher was voted to the First Team in 2020 and the Second Team in ‘21.

The Braves had an MLB-high 11 candidates on this year’s All-MLB ballot, but Fried was the only Atlanta player to gain a spot on either the First Team or the Second Team.

Fried ranked seventh among MLB pitchers in both ERA (2.48) and fWAR (5.0). He finished strong, producing a 2.15 ERA over his final 17 starts of the season. The only National League pitcher to post a better ERA during this span, which began June 20, was Julio Urías (1.89).

Sandy Alcantara, Shohei Ohtani, Justin Verlander, Framber Valdez and Alek Manoah were the starting pitchers honored on the First Team. Urías, Dylan Cease, Max Scherzer and Aaron Nola joined Fried on the Second Team.

The other Braves on this year’s ballot included Austin Riley (third base), Dansby Swanson (shortstop), Matt Olson (first baseman), Michael Harris II (outfielder), Kyle Wright (starting pitcher), Spencer Strider (starting pitcher), Travis d'Arnaud (catcher), William Contreras (catcher), Kenley Jansen (relief pitcher) and A.J. Minter (relief pitcher).

The winners were determined through a process in which 50 percent of the vote came from fans and 50 percent came from a panel of experts. Voters were asked to consider only performance during the regular season when casting their ballots.
