January 11th, 2017

NEW YORK -- First baseman Dominic Smith, the Mets' second-ranked prospect, highlights a list of 13 non-roster players the Mets have invited to big league Spring Training.
Also on the list: pitchers Chasen Bradford, P.J. Conlon, Kevin McGowan, David Roseboom, Paul Sewald, Corey Taylor and Logan Taylor; catcher Xorge Carrillo; infielders Phillip Evans and Luis Guillorme (Mets' No. 20 prospect); and outfielders Champ Stuart and Travis Taijeron.
Smith, 21, broke out last year with a .302 average and a .824 OPS at Double-A Binghamton, after receiving his first invite to Spring Training earlier in the year. He should start this season at Triple-A Las Vegas, with a chance to become the Mets' everyday first baseman as soon as 2018.

Other non-roster highlights include Conlon, the Mets' 26th-ranked prospect and 2016 organizational pitcher of the year, and Sewald, who struck out 80 batters in 65 2/3 innings last year at Las Vegas. Stuart is a 24-year-old Bahamian player known for his standout defense.
Other Mets prospects, including top-rated shortstop , receive automatic invites to big league camp due to their status as 40-man roster players.
