KANSAS CITY -- Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas was a late scratch from Tuesday night's game against the Indians at Kauffman Stadium because of back spasms. 
Alcides Escobar replaced Moustakas at third base and Raul Mondesi replaced Escobar at shortstop in the starting lineup. Without Moustakas in the lineup, the Royals fell to Cleveland, 6-4.
Royals manager Ned Yost said after the game that Moustakas felt his back tighten during pregame in the clubhouse when he was lifting one of his children. Yost said they would make a determination on Moustakas and his status going forward on Wednesday when he arrives at the ballpark.
