A chance to play baseball with all expenses covered, equipped by Major League Baseball, and an opportunity to win a trip to a big league game -- what could be better?

It’s an experience offered only by MLB Cup, an event that returned to Mexico for its second edition in September 2019 after an inaugural tournament in 2018. In its second year, 24 teams from different states across the country competed to ultimately win an all-expenses-paid trip to a Major League matchup. More than 400 players participated, with 11 of the tournament’s games broadcast on ESPN3, including the airing of all semifinal and championship affairs.

MLB’s Mexico branch covered the expenses for participants to be a part of the Cup, taking care of the transportation, accommodations, food and travel expenses, with games played at Liga Olmeca and Liga Maya. All teams involved were fully equipped by MLB, with personalized New Era hats, gloves, helmets and bats for players.
