Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association jointly announced Friday the latest COVID-19 testing results conducted under MLB’s COVID-19 Health Monitoring & Testing Plan. The independent Utah laboratory has reported the following results during the past week:
Weekly monitoring testing:
• 9,104 tests conducted, with 1 new positive test (a player); a 0.01% positive rate.
Total monitoring testing to date:
• 203,523 tests conducted, with 66 total positive tests (37 players and 29 staff members); a 0.03% positive rate. Twenty-five (25) different Clubs have had a Covered Individual test positive during Monitoring Testing.
In addition, MLB and the MLBPA announced today that 22 Clubs have reached the threshold of 85% or more of their Tier 1 Individuals being considered fully vaccinated, which (in consultation with medical experts) will allow for additional health and safety protocol modifications to apply to their Tier 1 Individuals. These protocol changes can also apply to Tier 2 Individuals, in each Club’s discretion, once 85% or more of the Club’s Tier 1 and Tier 2 Individuals are considered fully vaccinated. As of today, 86.5% of all Tier 1 and Tier 2 Individuals have received at least one vaccine dose, and 85.3% of all Tier 1 and Tier 2 Individuals are considered fully vaccinated.
