When everything is on the line, the drama is at its highest. Nothing exemplifies this more than a Game 7. So don't miss "Game 7 Sunday" on MLB Network, with classic Game 7 contests airing throughout the day. From the 1986 Mets to the 2003 Marlins, enjoy the thrill as only a winner-take-all game can provide. Here's the full programming schedule.
7 a.m. ET -- "Postseason to Remember: The 1986 League Championship Series"
Both League Championship Series in 1986 were thrilling and dramatic, with the Red Sox defeating the Angels in seven games thanks to an iconic home run from Dave Henderson and the heroics of ALCS MVP Marty Barrett. Barrett hit .367 with a pair of doubles in the series, and the Red Sox overcame a 3-1 Series deficit to win the pennant.
In the National League, it was another classic series between the Mets and Astros, with New York prevailing in six games. The entire series was filled with tension and dramatic moments -- four of the six games were decided by one run, and Games 5 and 6 were both extra-inning thrillers, with the Mets winning Game 5 in 12 innings at Shea Stadium, 2-1, and then winning Game 6 at the Astrodome in 16 innings, 7-6. Despite Houston being on the losing end of the series, Astros right-hander Mike Scott was named NLCS MVP after giving up just one run over 18 innings (two starts), walking one and striking out 19.
8 a.m. ET -- "Postseason to Remember: 1986"
Even after a pair of unforgettable League Championship Series in 1986, the World Series would steal the show by becoming one of the most iconic -- and wild -- Fall Classics in baseball history. With the Red Sox one out away from winning their first World Series title since 1918, everything fell apart for Boston, culminating in World Series MVP Ray Knight scoring on an error at first base by Bill Buckner, forcing Game 7. New York won Game 7 for its second championship in franchise history.
10 a.m. and 7 p.m. ET -- 1986 World Series Game 7, Red Sox at Mets
After a heartbreaking loss with a World Series title within their grasp, the Red Sox couldn't recover in Game 7, when Boston took a 3-0 lead but New York stormed back behind home runs from Ray Knight and Darryl Strawberry to clinch the championship, 8-5.
1 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET -- 2002 World Series Game 7, Giants at Angels
Much like the 1986 Red Sox, the Giants blew a lead late in Game 6 and the Angels were able to rally to force Game 7. And despite a tremendous postseason performance by Barry Bonds, who hit .356 with eight home runs, including four in the World Series, the Angels won Game 7 and the Series for the first World Series championship in franchise history.
4 p.m. ET -- 2003 NLCS Game 7, Marlins at Cubs
Another Game 7 born out of a Game 6 meltdown, this time by the Cubs. In the eighth inning of Game 6 at Wrigley Field, following a foul ball down the left-field line that Moises Alou was unable to catch through the arms of fans above the fence, Florida reeled off eight runs and went on to win, 8-3. In Game 7, the Cubs briefly held a 5-3 lead, but the Marlins scored six runs between the fifth and seventh innings and clinched the NL pennant with a 9-6 victory. Florida would go on to defeat the Yankees in six games for the franchise's second World Series championship in seven seasons.
6 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET -- MLB Tonight Draft Preview: Infielders
As the June 10-11 MLB Draft nears, join the crew at MLB Tonight for a look at the top infield Draft prospects who could be hearing their names called as the newest members of a Major League organization.
