Near perfecto, postseason thrillers today on MLBN

June 2nd, 2020

MLB Network's Tuesday coverage will kick off with an unforgettable near-perfect game, followed by a trio of postseason thrillers.

Here's a look at the full schedule (all times ET):

9 a.m.: Galarraga's near-perfect game -- Indians vs. Tigers from June 2, 2010

Tigers right-hander Armando Galarraga retired each of the first 26 batters he faced on June 2, 2010, before Indians shortstop Jason Donald rolled a grounder to the right side of the infield. Galarraga raced to cover the bag and raised his arms in triumph after receiving the toss from first baseman Miguel Cabrera -- only to have first-base umpire Jim Joyce rule Donald safe, much to the shock of everyone involved. Galarraga retired the next batter to settle for a one-hit shutout, in lieu of making history with a perfect game, while Joyce acknowledged after the game that he made the incorrect call.

11 a.m. and 10 p.m.: 1995 ALCS Game 3 -- Mariners vs. Indians

With the 1995 American League Championship Series knotted at one game apiece, the Mariners and Indians needed extra innings to decide the pivotal Game 3. In a star-studded matchup featuring a pair of stacked lineups, it was Seattle's Jay Buhner who delivered what proved to be the game-winning three-run homer in the top of the 11th. If the drama isn't enough to pique your interest, perhaps the pure star power will win you over, as this matchup featured the likes of Ken Griffey Jr., Edgar Martinez, Tino Martinez, Kenny Lofton, Omar Vizquel, Albert Belle, Eddie Murray and Manny Ramirez -- and even an appearance off the bench by 24-year-old future Hall of Famer Jim Thome.

2 p.m.: 1997 NLCS Game 5 -- Braves vs. Marlins

With the 1997 NLCS knotted at two games apiece, the Braves appeared to have the advantage heading into Game 5, with four-time Cy Young Award winner Greg Maddux taking the mound opposite 22-year-old rookie Liván Hernández. Maddux, who won four straight Cy Young Awards from '92-95 and had gone 19-4 with a 2.20 ERA during the '97 regular season, put up a solid effort in this one, limiting the Marlins to two runs over seven innings. That wasn't quite good enough, however, as the young Hernández struck out 15 while allowing just one run in the complete-game victory. The Marlins closed out the series one game later and went on to win the franchise's first World Series title.

5 p.m.: 2000 ALCS Game 6 -- Mariners vs. Yankees

The Mariners were clinging to a 4-3 lead entering the bottom of the seventh inning in their quest to force a decisive Game 7 -- but David Justice and company had other plans. Justice teed off for a go-ahead three-run homer to key a six-run inning for the Yankees, who held on for a 9-7 victory to clinch their third consecutive AL pennant.

8 p.m.: Brewster’s Millions

This "Bleacher Features" film starring Richard Pryor and John Candy centers around a Minor League player who needs to spend $30 million in 30 days in order to inherit $300 million, but there's one catch: He's not allowed to tell anyone about the deal.
