Nats finalize '21 Major League coaching staff

October 28th, 2020

The Nationals and manager Dave Martinez finalized their Major League coaching staff for the 2021 season on Wednesday.

Returning for next year are Tim Bogar (bench coach), Kevin Long (hitting coach), Henry Blanco (bullpen coach) and Pat Roessler (assistant hitting coach).

Bob Henley (third-base coach) shifts from first-base coach back to third base, his original role when he joined the Nats' big league staff in 2014. In turn, Randy Knorr (first-base coach) rejoins Washington's staff after most recently leading the club's alternate training site this year. This will be Knorr’s first time coaching at the Major League level since '15.

On Oct. 19, the Nationals hired Jim Hickey as pitching coach. He previously worked with Martinez in the Rays' organization.

On Thursday, the Nats parted ways with pitching coach Kevin Menhart and third-base coach Chip Hale.
