WASHINGTON -- Just because the Nationals entered Thursday night's National League Division Series Game 5 needing starting pitcher Max Scherzer to be at his best, does not mean they planned to have Scherzer do it all himself.
To that end, center fielder Trea Turner made a sensational diving catch on the game's first play, robbing Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley of a hit in a game Los Angeles went on to win, 4-3.

When Utley lifted a sinking fly ball to left-center field, Turner sprinted more than 74 feet to his right to track it down, according to Statcast™, reaching a top speed of 21 mph.
At the end of his run, Turner -- a shortstop by trade -- dove full-extension, transforming Utley's would-be hit into a flyout. Scherzer went on to record a perfect top of the first.
