Nats auction offers once-in-lifetime experiences

December 10th, 2017

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals have three items up for grabs in this year's annual Winter Meetings charity auction.

It's the sixth consecutive year Major League Baseball, MLB Advanced Media, MLB Network and all 30 Major League clubs have organized an auction during baseball's Winter Meetings, which offer once-in-a-lifetime baseball experiences to benefit a special cause close to those around the game. This auction will support the "Katharine Feeney Memorial Scholarship Fund" in memory of the late pioneering baseball executive whose career spanned 40 years.

Winter Meetings charity auction details

The Nationals are auctioning off the chance to be a media member for a day; a mascot appearance by Screech and Teddy; and a Nationals grounds crew experience.

The media member for a day offering is exactly how it sounds, with one person receiving the chance to experience a Nationals game through the eyes of a member of the media. The lucky winner will get access to Dave Martinez's pregame and postgame news conferences, access to the field during batting practice and a seat in the press box for the game. They also will receive a tour of the press box and broadcast booth, as well as a chance to meet Nationals broadcasters and members of the local media. Ahem, just no cheering in the press box.

The second item will give one lucky fan the chance to have Screech and Teddy crash their birthday party, summer BBQ or school event for a one-hour appearance.

The last winning bidder will have the opportunity to become an honorary member of the Nats' ground crew for a day. They will join director of field operations John Turnour and his staff as they prepare the field in the hour leading up to a game. The package also includes four game tickets and four batting practice passes for the winner and three guests.

MLB also will hold a 2018 All-Star experience auction, with four tickets to all major events at Nationals Park during the 2018 MLB All-Star week in Washington. These items can all be found at and will remain live until Thursday at 10 p.m. ET.
