LUBBOCK, Texas -- For the fifth straight year, the annual College Baseball Night of Champions yearbook won a Communication Award from the International Sports Heritage Association.
The ISHYs are presented each year at the organization's annual conference.
"The Night of Champions yearbook is produced entirely by volunteers and yet each year it competes with bigger organizations with staffs available to produce their works," said Mike Gustafson, president and chief executive officer of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame. "This award speaks to the high-quality publication we create and provide in conjunction with our event."
The 2015 Night of Champions yearbook was a 116-page publication featuring articles on each of the 2015 Hall of Fame inductees and the winners of the awards presented during the event, including the Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year, the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year, the Skip Bertman National Coach of the Year and the National Collegiate Umpire Award.
Each year, the Night of Champions yearbook includes two or three notable stories from the college baseball season. The 2015 features highlighted Rutgers pitcher Jon Young, who dedicated his season to his mother after her death prior to the season, and South Carolina Beaufort pitcher Jason Boulais, who missed the end of his senior season to donate bone marrow to a young boy in France.
"This publication allows us to really capture the feel of each season through the inductee and award-winner features as well as to share memorable stories with our readers and event guests," said Andrea Watson, editor and designer of the Night of Champions yearbook. "To receive this award for a fifth straight year is a testament to the quality work of all of the volunteers involved with this book. We are honored to receive this recognition."
