NEW YORK -- exited Saturday's 10-5 Mets win at Citi Field in the seventh inning after getting hit on the right side by a bases-loaded line drive off the bat of the Phillies' . Statcast™ recorded the comebacker at a 103.7-mph exit velocity.
The Mets announced after the game that Syndergaard's X-rays came back negative.
Hernandez swung at Syndergaard's 109th pitch of the night -- a 98.3-mph sinker -- and sent it right back up the middle. After Syndergaard fell to the ground, he retrieved the ball before getting up on his own power. The right-hander handed the ball to manager Mickey Callaway without attempting a warmup throw and headed to the Mets' clubhouse with the medical staff.
"It's a scary situation," Syndergaard said. "It's been my nightmare ever since I've started playing baseball. Today was just my judgement day of having a screamer come back at me. I mean, everyone was asking if I'm OK. I'm just concerned if the ball is all right."
Syndergaard allowed four runs on 12 hits over 6 2/3 innings with five walks and four strikeouts.
