DENVER -- crushed his 11th home run of the season with a three-run shot to left field in the bottom of the first inning against Giants left-handed pitcher on Wednesday night. Although Arenado's home run put the Rockies up early, the Giants took the final game of the series, 7-4.
The home run, which gave the Rockies a 3-0 lead, was Arenado's third in the Rockies' sixth game of their nine-game homestand. The third baseman is 8-for-21 with eight RBIs in the homestand.
"I think it's just a matter of trying to hit the ball hard, not trying to do too much, staying within myself," Arenado said. "There's little things, little tweaks that I'm doing that I think they're helping me. It's helping me and making me have a little bit more opportunities."
Arenado's homer, measured by Statcast™, had a 104.8 exit velocity and traveled a projected 447 feet.

The five-time Gold Glove Award winner also contributed a nifty play to end the top of the seventh, charging in for a barehand pickup on 's slow grounder and firing to first to beat Williamson.
"He's an All-Star player," Rockies manager Bud Black said. "That's why he's recognized as one of the best players in the game because of what he does with the bat and what he does with the ball."
