SAN FRANCISCO -- was out of the Diamondbacks’ lineup on Wednesday afternoon after departing Tuesday night's game with right groin tightness.

"We decided last night after the game to give him the day off combined with the [team off-day Thursday]," Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said. "So, whether he's available today off the bench or not, we're not certain at this point."

Arenado did a lot of running on the bases early in Tuesday night's game, and it was after he beat out an infield single in the sixth that he let the training staff know about the tightness. He was removed from the game the following inning.

Arenado was seen talking to Lovullo in the dugout after his removal.

"He said, 'Please don't make a decision on my status tomorrow until we talk after the game,'" Lovullo said. "Guy wants to play. Nolan wants to play baseball, and he wants to go win and dominate, and that can't help but be very contagious, a very contagious mindset for younger players."

Said Arenado after the game, "I'm not too concerned. It was a little tight, but I didn't feel, like, a pull or anything like that."
