A triple shy, Arenado stays bold at AT&T Park

Third baseman feeds off energy at 'one of my favorite ballparks'

SAN FRANCISCO -- AT&T Park has been good to Rockies third baseman . But even he didn't expect it to give him the triple he needed for the cycle on Saturday afternoon. Besides, such a hitting feat would have stolen some of the thunder from 's first career shutout in a 5-0 win over the Giants.
"Honestly, every time I feel like I'm close to the cycle, I have a triple left," Arenado said. "And I'm like, 'I'm not gonna get it, so I'm not gonna even worry about it.'"
A cycle is about all Arenado doesn't have at AT&T Park, where his third-inning homer was his ninth as a visitor. Among active players, only has more, with 10. Tulowitzki has visited for 68 games to Arenado's 35.
"I don't put too much into it, which why I think I have so much success," said Arenado, who will celebrate his 26th birthday on Sunday in the finale of the four-game series. "I know how good that team is. I try not to get ahead of myself.

"The reason is not so much I feel locked in here. It's just that those pitchers are good, and you have to be competitive and you have to be ready to go every time. That helps me. And if the fan base wasn't good, it wouldn't be one of my favorite ballparks. But the fan base is always money here."
Areando played a role in helping Chatwood, who was perfect for 5 2/3 innings and ended up holding the Giants to two hits with four strikeouts and 17 groundouts. Arenado made a barehanded pickup and threw out to end the bottom of the second, then launched his fourth homer of the season with two out in the third.
