Pipeline Preview: Quantrill makes second Double-A start

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Ozzie Albies (Braves' No. 1), Gwinnett vs. Indianapolis (7:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Albies' leadoff home run off of accounted for Triple-A Gwinnett's lone run on Thursday in an 11-1 loss against Indianapolis. It was the eighth home run this season for MLBPipeline.com's No. 7 overall prospect, who's slashing .289/.335/.446 with 61 runs scored and 21 stolen bases through 87 games for the G-Braves.

Pitcher to watch: Cal Quantrill (Padres' No. 2), San Antonio at Frisco (8:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Quantrill is set to make his second start for San Antonio after he allowed four earned runs on a season-high 10 hits in his Double-A debut. The No. 82 overall prospect was promoted to the Texas League after a strong first half in which he posted a 3.67 ERA with 76 strikeouts and five home runs allowed over 73 2/3 innings (14 starts) with Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore in the hitter-friendly California League.

Duel of the day: (White Sox No. 7) vs. Chance Adams (Yankees' No. 6), Charlotte at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (7:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Lopez, No. 36 on the Top 100, struck out a season-high 12 batters while allowing one earned run on two hits in seven innings in his last start for Triple-A Charlotte. It was his third double-digit strikeout performance this season, as well as his second in his past four turns. The 23-year-old righty has rebounded from a slow start to his season, as he enters Friday with a 3.78 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 100 innings spanning 18 starts.

Speaking of rebounding, Adams, MLBPipeline.com's No. 93 overall prospect, will attempt to do so after he completed just 4 2/3 innings in last start for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Though he allowed just one earned run on two hits in the performance, it still marked the shortest non-rain-shortened start of the season for the 22-year-old righty. Overall, Adams is 10-3 with a 1.94 ERA in 18 starts across two levels. He's recorded 99 strikeouts against 41 walks in 97 1/3 innings, all while limiting hitters to a .171 average.
