Myers off to 9-for-23 start, among NL leaders

Wil Myers has hit safely in five of the first seven games of the Padres’ season with four two-hit games. Myers is 9-for-23 with a double, two homers, two walks, two stolen bases, four runs scored and four RBIs.
He has opened the season with a slash line of .391/.440/.696 with a 1.136 OPS. After the first week of the season, Myers ranks 14th in the National League in slugging percentage and 12th in batting average.
Notebook
• LHP Joey Lucchesi has pitched 10 1/3 scoreless innings through two starts. The longest scoreless-innings streak of his career is 14-straight scoreless innings, spanning June 25 to July 6 of 2018. Lucchesi has 13 strikeouts so far and has struck out at least six in 10 of his last 11 starts dating back to last Aug. 12.
• RHP Craig Stammen has allowed one hit with two strikeouts over 4 1/3 scoreless innings in three relief appearances this season. He has six-straight scoreless appearances dating back to last season, when he had a 2.73 earned run average in 79 innings over 65 appearances. He had 88 strikeouts in those 79 innings.
• RHP Trey Wingenter is the lone pitcher to appear in four of the Padres first seven games. He has allowed one run on four hits, one walk and four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.
• RF Franmil Reyes is off to a 1-for-16 (.063) start with one double. But he has been driving the ball, with only three strikeouts. He also has a pair of sacrifice flies.
