March 14th, 2017

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The D-backs scored seven runs in the third inning as they cruised to a 12-0 victory over the Rangers on Tuesday afternoon in front of a sellout crowd at Salt River Fields.
smacked two doubles and collected a pair of RBIs during the frame while added a two-run single. The D-backs sent 11 men to the plate in the inning.

That was more than enough support for a pitching staff led by starter , who helped his bid for a rotation spot, by allowing just one hit over five scoreless innings. Corbin did not walk a batter and struck out five, retiring the last 15 batters he faced.
"Patrick set the tone on the mound, five really crisp innings," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said. "His stuff was outstanding."

Rangers starter began the game striking out three of four batters he faced in the first inning. But he gave up two runs in the second and six more in the third inning before finally being pulled.
"I didn't get the results, but I felt good out there," Gonzalez said.
The Rangers starter struggled, but their top relievers did not. Tony Barnette, and all made the trip to Scottsdale and pitched a scoreless inning each.

Chris Iannetta, and Chris Owings all went deep for Arizona.
