SARASOTA, Fla. -- Pedro Alvarez's debut in an Orioles uniform is scheduled for Sunday against the Twins in Fort Myers, Fla., manager Buck Showalter said on Saturday, and fans can watch it live on MLB.TV at 1:05 p.m. ET.
Alvarez, who signed a one-year contract on Thursday, has been working his way up to game action. The left-handed slugger took batting practice before Saturday's game against Minnesota and also was slated to stand in against Baltimore left-hander Jeff Beliveau in order to see some more live pitches.

"Most of our guys had three or four days of offensive work before they played in intrasquad games, and today is Pedro's third day," Showalter said. "He's going to go to [Fort Myers] tomorrow if everything goes well."

• Right-hander Yovani Gallardo is scheduled for his second spring start on Monday against the Phillies, with righty Chris Tillman (hip) making his Grapefruit League debut on Tuesday against the Blue Jays in Dunedin, Fla. Tillman, who pitched in a "B" game against the Pirates on Thursday, continues to feel better and will throw a bullpen session on Sunday.
• Catcher Caleb Joseph wasn't in the Orioles' lineup on Saturday, but he was back in the clubhouse after getting over a nasty bug that caused flu-like symptoms. Showalter said that Joseph could have played if needed but will get another day off before returning on Sunday. Joseph last participated in a Grapefruit League game on Wednesday.
"Hopefully it's not gonna start going around," Showalter said of the bug.
• Left-hander T.J. McFarland, who left Baltimore's game last Sunday with elbow soreness, is slated to throw a "touch and feel" side session off a mound on Sunday, Showalter said. The skipper also said that Jimmy Paredes is progressing quickly from his left wrist injury.
• Outfielder Hyun Soo Kim did not start against the Twins after playing each of the previous three days. Kim, who had played in nine of the team's first 12 games, has picked up an infield hit in two straight, following an 0-for-21 start.
• The Orioles made their first round of cuts on Saturday, reassigning seven non-roster players to Minor League camp: left-handed pitchers Cesar Cabral, Andy Oliver and Ashur Tolliver, catchers Chance Sisco and Jonah Heim, and infielders Trey Mancini and Ozzie Martinez.
A second-round pick in the 2013 Draft, Sisco rates as the Orioles' No. 5 prospect, according to MLBPipeline.com. Mancini, a first baseman, won the organization's Minor League Player of the Year Award in 2015 after posting a .938 OPS between Class A Advanced Frederick and Double-A Bowie. He is ranked as Baltimore's No. 6 prospect, with Heim at No. 14.
The Orioles now have 51 players remaining in big league Spring Training.
