Players of the Week
Player - 2B Scott Kingery, Lehigh Valley… Kingery, 23, hit .423 (11-26) with three doubles, two home runs, three RBI, seven runs scored, two walks and a 1.234 OPS in six games. He has hit safely in 34 of his last 35 games (since 7/14), including 18 straight contests (.351, 27-77 since 8/2). His current streak is the longest active hitting streak in the International League (and tied for the second-longest hitting streak of the season). He was selected by the Phillies in the second round of the June 2015 draft.
Pitcher - LHP David Parkinson, Williamsport… The 21-year-old made his first professional start on Aug. 20 and fanned a career-high 10 batters over 5.0 scoreless innings. He allowed just one hit and three walks but did not factor in the decision. He was selected by the Phillies in the 12^th round of the June 2017 draft.
Lehigh Valley IronPigs - International League North Division…70-57, 3^rd place… The IronPigs went 1-5, dropping four games by two or fewer runs. Lehigh Valley ranks tied for first in the International League with 142 home runs this season.
Top hitting performers - 2B Scott Kingery, the Phillies Minor League Player of the Week, batted .423 (11-26) with five extra-base hits, three RBI, seven runs scored, two walks, a .464 on-base percentage and a .769 slugging percentage in six games… SS J.P. Crawford slashed .346/.393/.423 (9-26) with two doubles, two RBI, one run scored and two walks in six games.
Top pitching performers - RHP Jose Taveras surrendered just one hit over 6.0 scoreless innings with two walks and six strikeouts in his win on Aug. 17… RHP Tom Eshelman tossed 7.0 shutout innings, allowing four hits with three strikeouts in his lone start. He has not allowed more than one walk in each of his 15 starts with the IronPigs this season (12 BB in 101.0 IP).
Reading Fightin Phils - Eastern League Eastern Division…64-61, 3^rd place… Reading won two of its six games, including a shutout victory at Hartford yesterday. The Fightins lead the Eastern League with 137 home runs this season.
Top hitting performers - INF Damek Tomscha batted .423 (11-26) with two extra-base hits, three RBI, two runs scored, two walks, one stolen base and a 1.041 OPS in six games. He is riding a 14-game hitting streak (.436, 24-55 since 8/7), the longest active streak in the Eastern League… OF Jiandido Tromp went 7-24 (.292) with two doubles, one home run and a team-high six RBI in five games… INF Drew Stankiewicz hit .400 (8-20) with three doubles, three runs scored, four walks and a 1.050 OPS in six games.
Top pitching performers - LHP Elniery Garcia went 1-0 with a 0.90 ERA (1 ER, 10.0 IP) in two starts… LHP Cole Irvin notched a quality start, allowing three runs on four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts over 8.0 innings on Aug. 17… RHP Franklyn Kilome recorded a quality start in his second outing with Reading, surrendering two runs over 7.0 innings on Aug. 16… RHP Victor Arano logged 3.0 hitless innings with four strikeouts in his two relief appearances.  
Clearwater Threshers - Florida State League North Division…25-32, 4^th place, 63-64 overall… The Threshers went 2-5, including three one-run losses.
Top hitting performers - OF Mark Laird led the club with 12 hits, slashing .375/.394/.406 in seven games… C Edgar Cabral hit .316 (6-19) with two extra-base hits, four RBI, seven runs scored, three walks and a .935 OPS in five games… OF Cornelius Randolph batted .261 (6-23) with one double, one triple, one home run, three RBI, three runs scored and four walks in six games.  
Top pitching performers - RHP Luke Leftwich went 1-0 with seven strikeouts over 6.1 scoreless innings of relief. He allowed just one hit and one walk in three relief appearances… RHP Sixto Sanchez logged a quality start on Aug. 18, allowing two runs over 6.0 innings with six strikeouts… RHP J.D. Hammer went 1-0 in four scoreless relief appearances (4.2 IP)… LHP JoJo Romero recorded eight strikeouts in 6.0 innings, allowing six hits and three runs in his start on Aug. 15.       
Lakewood BlueClaws - South Atlantic League Northern Division…25-31, 5^th place, 65-61 overall… Lakewood posted a .500 winning percentage (3-3), taking two-of-three against Delmarva to finish the week.
Top hitting performers - SS Arquimedes Gamboa batted .353 (6-17) with one home run, three RBI, two runs scored and a .918 OPS in five games… 2B Daniel Brito hit .313 (5-16) with one double, one RBI and two runs scored in four games. His 10 RBI this month (14 games) match his combined RBI total from May-July (64 games).
Top pitching performers - LHP Bailey Falter struck out eight and surrendered one run on four hits over 6.0 innings in his start on Aug. 15… LHP Nick Fanti fanned six batters in 6.0 innings and allowed one run on Aug. 19. He has held opponents to a .207 batting average (82-396) this season.
Williamsport Crosscutters - New York-Penn League Pinckney Division…26-29, 4^th place… Williamsport finished the week with a 1-5 record. 1B Greg Pickett, OF Jhailyn Ortiz, LHP Kyle Young, RHP Randy Alcantara and RHP Luis Ramirez appeared in the New York-Penn League All-Star Game on Aug. 15.
Top hitting performers - OF Jhailyn Ortiz slashed .333/.391/.476 (7-21) with three doubles, one RBI, two runs scored and two walks in six games. He ranks first in the New York-Penn League with 21 extra-base hits this season… 1B Greg Pickett hit .385 (5-13) with a .928 OPS in four games… 3B Cole Stobbe went 5-15 (.333) with two RBI, two runs scored and four walks in five games.
Top pitching performers - LHP David Parkinson recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts in his first professional start on Aug. 20. He allowed just one hit and three walks over 5.0 scoreless innings and was named Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Week… RHP Connor Brogdon surrendered one hit over 4.0 shutout innings and struck out five in a relief appearance on Aug. 18.
Gulf Coast League Phillies - Gulf Coast League Northwest Division…30-18, T-1^st place… The GCL Phillies went 5-2, including two wins on Aug. 14 (one was the completion of a suspended game from July 29).
Top hitting performers - 1B Quincy Nieporte hit .500 (7-14) with a 1.101 OPS in four games. He collected a team-best seven RBI… OF Kevin Markham batted .389 (7-18) with three RBI and four runs scored in four games… SS Jake Holmes went 5-13 (.385) with a .928 OPS in three games.  
Top pitching performers - LHP Jhordany Mezquita recorded six strikeouts and did not allow a run in his start (5.0 IP) on Aug. 15. He has held opponents to a .138 batting average (12-87) and owns a 1.01 ERA (3 ER, 26.2 IP) this season… LHP Ethan Lindow earned the win on Aug. 16, scattering two hits and one run over 6.0 innings, while walking two and striking out five.
