PHILADELPHIA -- The Eagles won the Super Bowl on Sunday, the city celebrated with a parade on Thursday and the Phillies loaded up their 53-foot equipment truck and left for Spring Training in Clearwater, Fla., on Friday.
Philadelphians will be basking in a Super Bowl-championship glow for months -- longer, maybe? -- but baseball begins next week.

Phillies pitchers and catchers hold their first workout Wednesday in Clearwater. About a dozen Phillies employees packed up the truck, which will travel 1,058 miles through eight states before arriving in Florida on Sunday.

Thursday's parade had little effect on the Phillies' travel plans, though it did force some people to drop off their belongings at the ballpark either late Thursday or early Friday.
"We just told people, 'Don't even bother coming in Thursday before or during the parade, because it's going to be too crazy,'" Phillies manager of equipment and umpire services Dan O'Rourke said.
The Phillies loaded an ice-cream machine onto the truck this year. No, it's not for manager Gabe Kapler's clubhouse. It's for fans at Spectrum Field.
