CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Roman Quinn has been an outfielder so long that he no longer needed an infielder's glove.
Quinn, 24, played shortstop the first three seasons of his professional baseball career from 2012-14, before moving exclusively to the outfield. But with the Phillies looking for versatility in bench players this spring, Quinn has been getting work in the infield. And that means Quinn needs a new glove.

"I had to remember what size glove I used in the infield because I forgot," Quinn said Saturday morning at Spectrum Field, where glove manufacturer Wilson met Quinn and other Phillies clients.
Some players have their gloves custom made, choosing everything from the length and width of the glove, to the colors, laces, stitching and logo. Quinn usually picks out gloves from the assortment Wilson brings to the ballpark.
"They always have the one I need so I just do that," said Quinn, who has been using Wilson since he purchased his own in high school. "I usually carry like two gloves. I have a game one and one that I'm trying to break in. So maybe I carry two or three, but now I'm going to have carry three or four because of the infield situation."
The Phillies plan to carry an eight-man bullpen, meaning they will have only a four-man bench. There are two position-player jobs available and the Phils prefer those two players field multiple positions.
"I've been taking ground balls since I moved from the infield," Quinn said. "I feel comfortable out there. I feel good, my arm feels good. We'll see what happens. Whatever they need me to do to make the team I'm going to do it."
