Pipeline Podcast recaps Spring Breakout, visits with Lowder

March 19th, 2024

Four days of prospect-filled competition, all of it streamed and most of it televised, what could be better? For us, not much.

Jim Callis, Jonathan Mayo and Jason Ratliff dive headfirst into last week's Spring Breakout action on this week's edition of the Pipeline Podcast. They analyze all 13 contests, and of course, the marquee matchup -- MLB's No. 1 prospect Jackson Holliday vs. No. 3 Paul Skenes.

The crew also breaks down top performers from the weekend, including the Yankees' Spencer Jones (No. 2/MLB No. 84) and Brock Selvidge (No. 11), and fourth-ranked Rays prospect Xavier Isaac (MLB No. 58).

In addition, Callis links up with MLB's No. 34 prospect Rhett Lowder (CIN No. 2) prior to his Spring Breakout appearance to discuss pitching in the game and his overall experience in Reds' big league camp.

The trio wraps up the show with some discussion of the Padres, looking at the prospects the White Sox received in the Dylan Cease trade and what to expect from Jackson Merrill -- MLB's No. 12 prospect -- as San Diego's Opening Day center fielder. The episode is closed out with a question from the mailbag.
