May 20th, 2021

The Seattle Mariners congratulate Patty Hayes on a distinguished career in public health.

As head of Public Health – Seattle & King County, she was at the center of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. With her trademark calm demeanor, Hayes kept the focus on the health and well-being of the county’s 2 million residents, and her compassion ensured the needs of the most vulnerable were not forgotten.

“Patty Hayes has been a trusted adviser to me personally and to the Seattle Mariners as we navigated the unknown waters of the global health crisis. Her expertise and guidance were critical to our ability to safely open T-Mobile Park to fans this season. She has dedicated her professional career to public service and our entire community has benefitted because of it,” said John Stanton, Seattle Mariners Chairman and Managing Partner.

Hayes service to the community has spanned more than 30-years. A University of Washington graduate who began her nursing career at West Seattle Hospital, Hayes has championed innovative approaches to health care including an emphasis on prevention and early intervention to promote healthier outcomes for children, youth and families.

The Seattle Mariners salute Patty Hayes, thank her for her leadership over a distinguished career, and wish her well as she closes this important chapter of her life.
