MONTREAL, February 28th -- TVA Sports is proud to announce the signing of a new agreement with the Toronto Blue Jays covering the next three years (2023-2024-2025). Starting March 30, the sports channel will have exclusive French-language coverage of 81 Blue Jays matchups, including the team’s home opener on April 11, representing a record number of games airing in French. As part of the new deal, TVA will also air 81 Blue Jays games in 2024 and 2025.

Baseball fans will be able to follow the Blue Jays more closely than ever throughout the 2023 season, with TVA Sports on the scene from Spring Training right up to the postseason. After a very active trading period during the offseason, the Blue Jays will soon introduce viewers to new players such as Daulton Varsho, Kevin Kiermaier and Chris Bassitt, while bringing back fan favourites and all-stars like Vladimir Guerrero Jr., George Springer and Bo Bichette.

All season long, TVA Sports will be counting on her experienced broadcast team including Denis Casavant, Rodger Brulotte, François Paquet and former Capitales de Québec’s pitcher. TVA Sports is proud to broadcast Blue Jays games, the only Canadian team in the MLB, since her launch in 2011.

This new agreement allows TVA Sports to significantly enhance its offering by becoming Quebec’s baseball destination, airing over 160 MLB games. In addition to the 81 Blue Jays games, the broadcaster will also air 78 MLB regular-season games featuring both National League and American League teams as the exclusive French-language broadcaster of Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday games in Canada.

This season, TVA Sports will also have the privilege of presenting prestigious MLB events, including its first-ever broadcast of the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game from Seattle, as well as the World Series.

“We’re extremely proud of this agreement with the Blue Jays,” explains TVA Sports General Manager Louis-Philippe Neveu. “It’s a testament to the mutual trust we’ve developed through this partnership since the channel was first launched. We’re pleased to enhance our offering and become the country’s French-language baseball destination, with over 160 MLB games to delight fans.”

“As Canada’s baseball team, we are pleased to continue making our games available in French through our strong partnership with TVA,” said Marnie Starkman, Executive Vice President of Business Operations, Toronto Blue Jays. “Baseball fans in Quebec, along with French-speaking Canadians throughout the country, have shown tremendous support for the team over the years and we look forward to delivering them another exciting season of Blue Jays baseball.”

The baseball season will start sooner this year! In fact, as announced few weeks ago, TVA Sports is the official broadcaster or the World Baseball Classic which will start March 7th.
