Prospect prepares for Futures Game with cycle

July 4th, 2019

It's been a great few days for Alek Thomas, the 63rd overall selection in the 2018 Draft and the D-backs' No. 7 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

On Friday, Thomas was chosen to participate in the 2019 MLB Futures Game at Progressive Field in Cleveland. And on Wednesday night, he hit for the cycle in Class A Kane County's 5-4 victory over Peoria.

Thomas singled to center field in the first inning, hit an RBI triple to right in the third, smashed a solo home run to left in the fifth, and doubled to center to lead off the eighth. He's been on fire the last two games, going a combined 9-for-10 with two doubles, two triples and a home run while driving in four runs.

Thomas also drew a walk for good measure on Wednesday, and is hitting .312 with eight homers and a .901 OPS in 70 games this season, his first full-season professional campaign after playing Rookie level ball last year.
