Rangers radio broadcaster releases new book

Cowboy Santas Toy Drive to be held from Dec. 1-17

November 28th, 2018

ARLINGTON -- Eric Nadel's broadcasting talents earned him the 2014 Ford C. Frick Award. Now, the Rangers' renaissance man is venturing into new territory.
Nadel has self-published a book of limericks that is now available on Amazon. The book is titled Lim-Eric and the 175 limericks were written mainly by Nadel, but also feature a few by his radio listeners and fans during the season. Local artist Arthur James contributed the illustrations and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.
The limerick craze started in early May and continued in the eighth inning of every game as Nadel and radio partner Matt Hicks looked for ways to liven up their broadcasts.
"We were looking for something at that point to help hold the audience because it looked like the season was not going to be a great one," Nadel said. "We introduced the Limerick of the Day, and we did that every game from that point on. We read it in the 8th inning in a desperate attempt to hold the audience."
This limerick came at the end of the season as a tribute to third baseman Adrian Beltre.
His dazzling plays come every game.
They're breathtaking, never the same.
With each Gold Glove miracle.
The proof is empirical.
He's headed for the Hall of Fame.
This one came after an excellent outing by rookie pitcher on Sept. 2 when he threw six scoreless innings against the Twins.
Ranger drives soaring out yonder.
Today's brightest star is Yohander.
Seems like his demotion
And recent promotion
Gave that young man something to ponder.
The official release party will be at the Kessler Theater in Dallas at 7 p.m. CT on Dec. 5, and there will be a book signing at Globe Life Park from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14.
Martin to lead Toy Drive
