ANAHEIM -- Rangers slugger Joey Gallo, who entered Tuesday leading the team and tied for second in the American League with 35 home runs, was placed on the 7-day concussion list.
Phil Gosselin was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to take his place on the roster.
The Rangers continue to experience the fallout from the collision between Gallo and right-hander Matt Bush in Sunday's loss to the White Sox. Bush was placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday with an MCL sprain in his right knee.
"We felt like Joey needed the seven days," Rangers manager Jeff Banister said. "He probably wasn't going to be doing any baseball activity over the next seven days. The earliest was going to be the weekend, so we're hoping to get him back on Tuesday."

Banister said there's a chance Gallo could rejoin the team Wednesday in Anaheim to continue his rehabilitation under the stipulations of the concussion protocol.
"He's better today," Banister said. "He's progressing each day."
Though Gallo also sustained a nondisplaced nasal fracture during the infield collision with Bush, which occurred while tracking a fly ball in the infield, the concussion is the team's chief concern.
"Once they have been put under the concussion protocol, that's what takes precedence over everything else," Banister said. "… There's different protocols, whether it's our medical people or Major League Baseball's, there's tests these guys have to pass to play."
Gallo has been a key offensive piece in the Rangers' AL Wild Card chase, as his 14 home runs since the All-Star break are tied for second-most in the Majors behind only Giancarlo Stanton. He's eligible to be reinstated next Tuesday when the Rangers begin a three-game set against the Astros at Minute Maid Park.
Gosselin was optioned to Round Rock on Monday in order to keep Gallo on the 25-man roster while the team was evaluating his condition. The 28-year-old infielder has appeared in just one game for the Rangers this season, which came Sunday while replacing Gallo at third base. He was claimed off waivers from the Pirates on Aug. 12.
Gomez progressing well
Center fielder Carlos Gomez took swings Tuesday in an indoor cage for the first time since an excision of a cyst behind his right shoulder.
Gomez, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to Aug. 16, was confident he'd swing on the field for the first time Wednesday before the team's game against the Angels. He said he didn't feel discomfort while swinging but has to be careful to not mess up the stitches from the procedure.
Delino DeShields was again starting in center field Tuesday night against the Angels.
Rangers beat
• Keone Kela hasn't thrown since being placed on the disabled list with right shoulder soreness retroactive to Aug. 5.
"He's just rehabbing, going through the treatment process," Banister said of Kela, who has a 2.36 ERA through 34 appearances this season. "He hasn't begun a throwing program. I'm sure there's some discomfort."
• Cole Hamels moved to 9-1 following the Rangers' 5-3 win over the Angels on Monday night and has begun back-to-back seasons with that record through his first 10 decisions. He's just the fourth pitcher to accomplish the feat in the expansion era (since 1961) and the first since Kevin Brown, who did it with the Dodgers in 2003-04.
• The Rangers play 21 of their next 31 games on the road. They're 27-33 on the road entering Tuesday -- 10th in the American League.
• Adrian Beltre's home run Monday gave him 181 with the Rangers, breaking a tie with Ruben Sierra for fifth-most in club history.
