Daniels wins 1,000th game as Rangers GM

August 17th, 2017

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers had a special post-game celebration following their 12-6 victory over the Tigers on Wednesday night.
The Rangers marked the occasion of their 1,000th win under general manager Jon Daniels since he was promoted after the 2005 season. This is his 12th season on the job, and the 1,000 wins are the third most by an American League general manager with his current team, behind only Brian Cashman of the Yankees (1,867) and Billy Beane of the Athletics (1,674).
"That's pretty cool," said shortstop . "He deserves a lot of the credit for the success we have had since he became general manager."

Beyond the wins, the Rangers have won two American League pennants and four division titles during Daniels' tenure.
Andrus has multiple reasons to like the general manager. Daniels acquired Andrus from the Braves in 2007 and also signed him to an eight-year contract extension that keeps him with the Rangers through 2022.
"Yeah, he's my favorite person," Andrus said.
