Rays announce clubhouse staff promotions

November 22nd, 2017

ST. PETERSBURG -- During an offseason that has seen the Rays give a makeover to its Major League coaching staff, Tuesday's announcement about promotions within the clubhouse staff seemed appropriate.
The club announced that Ryan Denlinger was named home-clubhouse manager, Tyler Wall was named home equipment manager and Ryan Riddle was named assistant home-clubhouse manager.
In addition, the club promoted Mike Sandoval to the Major League training staff as assistant athletic trainer.
Affectionately known as "Beans," Denlinger will enter his 13th season with the Rays in 2018 and will oversee the home clubhouse staff in his new role. His previous experience in the organization came as the assistant home-clubhouse manager (2014-17), Rays clubhouse attendant (2007-13) and Rookie-level Princeton Rays clubhouse attendant (2006).
Denlinger graduated from the University of South Florida in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and he completed an internship with the Reds.
Wall is set to enter his 10th season with the Rays. He was the umpires' locker room attendant and a Rays clubhouse attendant for the previous eight seasons (2010-17) after starting with the organization as a bat boy during the 2009 season.
Wall graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a bachelor's degree in sports management and business studies.
Riddle, who is set to enter his 13th season with the Rays, was the team's clubhouse attendant for the previous 10 seasons (2008-17) after starting with the organization as a bat boy during the 2006 season. He was raised in Clearwater, Fla., and he joined the Rays after graduation from Countryside High School.
Sandoval will join the Major League training staff as assistant athletic trainer after six seasons as an athletic trainer with the Triple-A Durham Bulls. Next year will be his 32nd season in professional baseball, including 25 years with the Pirates organization.
From 2001-11, Sandoval was the Pirates' assistant athletic trainer and Major League rehab coordinator. He began his professional career in 1987 as athletic trainer for the Watertown Pirates of the New York-Penn League. He has also worked with Rookie-level Princeton (1988), Class-A Salem (1989), Double-A Harrisburg (1990), Double-A Carolina (1991, 1997-98), Triple-A Buffalo (1992-94), Triple-A Calgary (1995) and Double-A Altoona (1999-2000).
Sandoval graduated from New Mexico State University in 1988 with a degree in physical education and sports medicine.
