Andriese to make Triple-A start tonight

August 22nd, 2017

ST. PETERSBURG -- (right hip stress reaction) will start for Triple-A Durham Wednesday night in his pursuit to return to the Rays.
Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters that Andriese flew out on Tuesday afternoon.
"He'll pitch tomrrow night," said Cash, who confirmed that Andriese would make one more Minor League start before returning to the Rays.
The plan for Andriese upon his return is to slide back into the rotation, though any plans for shuffling the rotation to make room for him are not yet known. One thing is certain, since Andriese needs to make one more start before returning, the Rays will not have to make any roster moves to accommodate him upon his return since rosters can be expanded after Sept. 1.
Wednesday night's start might have been Andriese's rehab finale had he not had a brush of misfortune Friday while pitching for Class A Advanced Charlotte. The right-hander got struck on his left ankle with a batted ball on the second pitch of his start.
Andriese went on the 10-day DL on June 13. On June 17, he was transferred to the 60-day DL. The right-hander is 5-1 with a 3.54 ERA in 12 starts this season.
