ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays placed left-handed reliever on the 10-day disabled list with forearm tightness following their 6-3 defeat against the Astros on Friday night.
Tampa Bay recalled righty from Triple-A Durham to fill Cedeno's spot. With Cedeno out, the Rays are now without any left-handed options in their bullpen for the time being.
"We're optimistic that it's not [a serious injury]," manager Kevin Cash said.
In seven appearances for the Rays this season, the 30-year-old Cedeno (1-1 with a 3.86 ERA) has dealt with issues maintaining consistency, walking four and allowing four hits with no strikeouts.
Garton pitched 37 games with Tampa Bay in 2016. He finished with a 4.35 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings.
