Red Sox Add Seven Non-Roster Invitees to 2026 Spring Training Roster

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox have added seven non-roster invitees to the team’s 2026 Spring Training roster: catcher Jason Delay; infielder Vinny Capra; right-handed pitchers Osvaldo Berrios, Hobie Harris, and Devin Sweet; and left-handed pitchers Alec Gamboa and T.J. Sikkema.

Jason Delay, C Delay, 30, batted .200 (46-for-230) with 10 doubles in 68 games during 2025 between Double-A Columbus (eight games) and Triple-A Gwinnett (60 games) of the Atlanta Braves organization. The right-handed hitter has played 134 career Major League games with the Pittsburgh Pirates (2022-24), making 131 starts as the catcher. Originally selected by the Pirates in the fourth round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, the Texas native has thrown out 97 of 384 runners attempting to steal (25.3%) in 340 career minor league games as the catcher.

Vinny Capra, INF – Capra, 29, played in 47 games for the Milwaukee Brewers (24 games) and Chicago White Sox (23 games) in 2025, batting .125 (12-for-96) with six RBI while making 13 starts at third base and 11 at shortstop. The right-handed hitter also batted .286 (24-for-84) with an .824 OPS in 24 games with Triple-A Charlotte. Originally selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 20th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Florida native has batted .270 (488-for-1,810) with a .752 OPS in 510 career minor league games. He has played in 67 career Major League games with the Toronto Blue Jays (2022), Pittsburgh Pirates (2023), Brewers (2024-25) and White Sox (2025).

Osvaldo Berrios, RHP – Berrios, 26, posted a 5.12 ERA (33 ER/58.0 IP) with 62 strikeouts over 40 games (four starts) during 2025 with Double-A Springfield (28 games, four starts) and Triple-A Memphis (12 games) of the St. Louis Cardinals organization. Originally selected by the Athletics in the 20th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, the Puerto Rico native owns a 5.44 ERA (254 ER/420.1 IP) with 392 strikeouts in 155 career minor league games (56 starts). He pitched in 14 games for the Gigantes de Carolina of the Puerto Rican Winter League this offseason.

Hobie Harris, RHP – Harris, 32, recorded a 4.05 ERA (18 ER/40.0 IP) with 45 strikeouts over 32 games (one start) between the FCL Red Sox (one start) and Triple-A Worcester (31 games) in 2025. The right-hander made relief appearances in 16 career Major League games with the Washington Nationals (2023). Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the 31st round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft, the Texas native owns a 3.83 ERA (191 ER/449.1 IP) with 501 strikeouts in 327 career minor league games (one start).

Devin Sweet, RHP – Sweet, 29, pitched in 46 games (two starts) with Triple-A Lehigh Valley of the Philadelphia Phillies organization in 2025, posting a 5.08 ERA (29 ER/51.1 IP) with 49 strikeouts. The right-hander has appeared in seven career Major League games with the Seattle Mariners (2023) and Athletics (2023). Originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Mariners in July 2018, the North Carolina native has gone 35-26 with a 3.91 ERA (198 ER/455.2 IP) and 554 strikeouts in 251 career minor league games (34 starts). He made 16 appearances for the Yaquis de Obregón of the Mexican Pacific League this winter.

Alec Gamboa, LHP – Gamboa, 28, split 2025 between Triple-A Oklahoma City of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and the Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball League. The left-hander pitched in eight games (two starts) for Oklahoma City, recording a 4.19 ERA (9 ER/19.1 IP). For Lotte, posted a 3.58 ERA (43 ER/108.0 IP) with 117 strikeouts in 19 starts, and was named the KBO Player of the Month for June after going 5-0 with a 1.72 ERA (6 ER/31.1 IP). Originally selected by the Dodgers in the ninth round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the California native owns a 4.23 ERA (169 ER/359.2 IP) in 131 career minor league games (41 starts).

T.J. Sikkema, LHP – Sikkema, 27, pitched in 23 games (15 starts) between Double-A Chattanooga (18 games, 11 starts) and Triple-A Louisville (five games, four starts) of the Cincinnati Reds organization in 2025, going 8-4 with a 4.57 ERA (44 ER/86.2 IP) and 72 strikeouts. Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the Competitive Balance Round A of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the Iowa native has recorded a 4.57 ERA (158 ER/311.0 IP) and 303 strikeouts in 100 career minor league games (51 starts).
