March 26: Red Sox's offseason recap
After losing free-agent addition Lucas Giolito to right elbow surgery, the Red Sox are set to open the season with a starting rotation of Brayan Bello, Nick Pivetta, Kutter Crawford, Garrett Whitlock and Tanner Houck.

Giolito, who signed a one-year deal with a 2025 player option in January, was one of three notable additions the Red Sox made during their first offseason under new chief baseball officer Craig Breslow.

Boston also added infielder Vaughn Grissom (also sidelined due to a groin injury) and outfielder Tyler O'Neill. Meanwhile, the Red Sox subtracted Chris Sale, Justin Turner, Adam Duvall, Alex Verdugo and James Paxton from a roster that won 78 games in 2023.

Jordan Montgomery was linked to the Red Sox in free agency throughout the offseason and into Spring Training, but he's no longer an option for Boston after reaching a deal with the D-backs on Tuesday night.
