NEW YORK -- Though the American League East rivals shared the Yankee Stadium diamond for their respective batting practice sessions on Thursday afternoon, the second series between the Red Sox and the Yankees will have to wait.
Thursday's game between the clubs was postponed due to a continued forecast for inclement weather. The game has been rescheduled for Aug. 3 at 7:05 p.m. ET as the second game of a day-night, separate-admission doubleheader.
The originally scheduled game for Aug. 3 has been moved to from a 4:05 p.m. ET start to 1:05 p.m. Tickets dated Aug. 3 are valid only for the first game of the doubleheader.
"As far as the rain, we'll talk about it now, how we go," Red Sox manager Alex Cora said. "We've got an off-day on Monday, so it becomes interesting as far as who skips what and all that. We'll talk about it and make a decision based on the days [of rest]. Chris is pitching [Friday]."
"I feel like we're in a really good place a third of the way through the season," Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. "Obviously our guys have played well, but there's a long way to go and we really just as much as we can try to focus on the day."
Fans holding paid tickets for Thursday's postponed game may use them for the second game (7:05 p.m.) of the Aug. 3 doubleheader or exchange them for tickets to a 2019 or '20 regular-season game at Yankee Stadium (subject to availability).
Exchanges for these tickets must take place by May 31, 2020, and can be made at Yankee Stadium ticket windows beginning Friday at 9 a.m. ET, and at any other times the ticket windows are open.
