CINCINNATI -- The Reds recently signed a trio of pitchers -- left-hander Josh Osich and right-handers Matt Ball and Bo Takahashi -- to Minor League contracts with invitations to big league camp for Spring Training.

Osich, 32, spent the 2020 season with the Red Sox and Cubs, posting a 1-1 record and 6.38 ERA over 17 games (one start). He was traded from Boston to Chicago on Aug. 31 and outrighted off the Cubs’ roster in October.

Before this past season, Osich spent 2015-18 with the Giants and the ’19 season with the White Sox. Over six big league seasons, he has a 5.02 ERA in 234 games.

Also signed on Monday was Ball, who will turn 26 next month. He has never pitched in the Majors and reached Triple-A for the Angels’ organization in 2019. The ’20 season saw him pitch five games for independent Sugar Land and post a 2.70 ERA.

In 125 Minor League games, including 69 starts, Ball has a 5.24 career ERA.

In a Minor League deal finalized Friday, the Reds added Takahashi, who was unable to pitch for Arizona last season after the COVID-19 lockdown banned all flights from his native Brazil.

In 2019 with the D-backs’ Double-A club, the 23-year-old Takahashi was 9-7 with a 3.72 ERA in 23 starts.
