Angels starting pitcher Reid Detmers and Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper each put together memorable performances last week. For their efforts, they were named the Players of the Week presented by Chevrolet on Monday.

Making just his 11th career start, Detmers threw one of the most unlikely no-hitters in recent memory in a 12-0 win over the Rays on Tuesday. Despite striking out just two batters, the 22-year-old former top prospect held Tampa Bay to one walk and an error to become the 25th pitcher with rookie eligibility remaining to throw a no-hitter.

Detmers' was the 12th no-hitter in Halos history and the first since Taylor Cole and Félix Peña combined for one against the Mariners on July 12, 2019, with Tyler Skaggs’ number on their backs in the team’s first game after his death. It was the franchise's first individual no-hitter since Jered Weaver threw one against the Twins on May 2, 2012, and the second thrown in the Majors this year -- five Mets pitchers combined to throw one against the Phillies on April 29.

Detmers is the second Angels player to win the AL Player of the Week Award this season, joining Taylor Ward.

As for Harper, the left-handed slugger went 14-for-23 (.609) with three homers, six doubles, eight RBIs and a 1.904 OPS in six games. He did this while battling through a small tear in the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, which forced him to miss Sunday’s game against the Dodgers. On the season, the reigning NL MVP is batting .305/.361/.634 with 24 extra-base hits (nine homers, 14 doubles and a triple), the most in the Majors.

This marks Harper’s seventh career NL Player of the Week Award, but it is his first since Sept. 8, 2018, back in his final season with the Nationals. He’s the first Phillie to capture the award since Jay Bruce on June 8, 2019.
