Reynaldo Lopez's ability to miss bats was on display Sunday as the right-hander struck out a career-high 12 hitters over five innings in Double-A Harrisburg's 2-1 win against Akron. He allowed one earned run on five hits and did not issue a walk for the first time in nine starts for the Senators.
The Nationals' No. 5 prospect struck out the side in the first and third innings and also recorded a pair of two-strikeout innings. Lopez, 22, has fanned 56 hitters in 47 2/3 innings on the season, while his ERA sits at 4.15 after Sunday's outing. Meanwhile, opposing hitters are batting just .223 against him.

On the mound for RubberDucks was Indians No. 15 prospect Adam Plutko, who completed seven innings for the second time in his last three starts. The 24-year-old righty yielded one earned run on two hits -- walking one and striking out four -- to lower his season ERA to 2.66 in 50 2/3 innings, and he finished the month of May with a 1.75 ERA and a 27/4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 36 innings (six starts).

• No. 41 overall prospect David Dahl (Rockies' No. 2) had a perfect day at the plate in Double-A Hartford's win over Portland, going 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. The 22-year-old outfielder has tallied a pair of doubles in back-to-back games for the Yard Goats, giving him nine extra-base hits in his last 10 games. Overall, Dahl is hitting .294/.369/.583 with 11 home runs and 13 steals.

• On extra rest, No. 49 overall prospect Jameson Taillon (Pirates' No. 4) picked up his fourth win of the season for Triple-A Indianapolis with six innings of one-run ball against Pawtucket. He scattered four hits and struck out three on the day while finding the zone with 54 of his 83 pitches in a 8-2 win. After missing all of the 2014 and '15 seasons, Taillon, 24, has posted 1.79 ERA with an impressive 54/5 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 55 1/3 innings (nine starts) for the Indians. Backing Taillon in the game was No. 44 prospect Josh Bell (Pirates' No. 3), who went 3-for-4 with his fifth home run, a double and two runs scored.

• Cardinals No. 30 prospect Andrew Morales tossed seven innings of one-run ball in Double-A Springfield's extra-inning loss to Midland. He yielded just three hits while walking one and striking out six, with 64 of his 93 pitches going for strikes. The 23-year-old righty has logged back-to-back seven-inning, one-run starts for the Cardinals following his worst start of the year (six earned runs in 5 2/3 innings).
• Mariners No. 7 prospect Nick Neidert allowed three hitters to reach base (hit, walk, hit-by-pitch) in five scoreless innings against Class A Burlington in his second start of 2016 for Clinton. The 2015 second-rounder struck out three before departing the game after five innings and 75 pitches (50 strikes). After pitching to a 1.53 ERA over 35 1/3 innings last summer in the Rookie-level Arizona League, Neidert, 19, has given up one run in 10 innings between his first two full-season starts.
• Royals No. 11 prospect Chase Vallot hit his eighth home run and tallied a career-high six RBIs to help lead Class A Lexington past Hagerstown, 11-8. It was the first three-hit game of the season for the 19-year-old backstop, who's hitting .294/.400/.551 with 28 RBIs in his second tour of the South Atlantic League.
"It usually takes me about one or two at-bats to really feel the pitcher out and see what he has," Vallot told MiLB.com. "It's nothing special. I'm just trying to get up there and put a good swing on the ball."
• Tigers No. 4 prospect Christin Stewart paced Class A Advanced Lakeland's offense in a win against Clearwater, going 1-for-2 with three walks and his Minor League-leading 15th home run. The 2015 first-rounder has hit 25 home runs in 121 games since signing with Detroit last year.
• Tigers No. 8 prospect JaCoby Jones continued to swing a hot bat as he extended his hitting streak to nine games with a go-ahead two-run home run in the fifth inning of Double-A Erie's 5-2 win against Richmond. The 24-year-old has left the yard four times in his first 12 games for the SeaWolves and is hitting .347/.411/.735 with 16 RBIs.

• White Sox No. 13 prospect Jordan Stephens picked up his first win of the season for Class A Advanced Winston-Salem with five innings of one-run ball in a 4-1 win over Potomac. He allowed two hits, walked a pair and struck out six in the outing while also generating five ground-ball outs.
• White Sox No. 27 prospect Jason Coats hit his second home run in as many games and notched his first four-hit game of the season, but it wasn't enough to keep Triple-A Charlotte from losing to Rochester, 5-3. The 26-year-old outfielder's 4-for-5 performance included two doubles and lifted his season slash line to .322/.386/.530, and he's hit six home runs and 11 doubles in 39 games.
