Nevin named Fall League Player of the Week

October 30th, 2018

Continuing his hot start to the Arizona Fall League, Tyler Nevin, the Colorado Rockies' No. 11 prospect, was named the AFL Player of the Week.
Over the past week, Nevin went 6-for-11 with three triples, and he is now slashing .467/.553/.700 through three weeks of Fall League play.

"I'm just fortunate I've had a couple fall my way," Nevin said on his fast start. "Small sample size, but I do feel good at the plate and things are going my way. Hopefully I continue to do that."
Nevin has 12 Fall League RBIs, including five over the last week.
Nevin is coming off a season with Class A Advanced Lancaster where he batted .328 with 62 RBIs and 13 home runs in 100 games. The 100 games were the most he's played in his four-year Minor League career, one that has been hampered by injuries.

"I feel great," Nevis said. "I've had a good routine with my trainers throughout the end of the season and out here too."
He noted that he is only really playing three times a week and his body is therefore able to get a good amount of rest. Nevin hopes to remain healthy and carry this momentum into 2019.
"I just hope I stay healthy," Nevin said. "Let my ability take care of itself. Wherever that may be, I'm not in control of that. Another saying my dad always tells me is 'control what you can control,' and those are the things I can control, or at least control in a sense."
Nevin's father is current Yankees' third-base coach and former No. 1 overall pick Phil Nevin.
"The baseball lifestyle, we don't get to see each other too often," Tyler said. "He's the first guy I go to, for sure. He's been a great help to my career and just my life."
