Rockies Select Anthony Bemboom in Minor League Phase of Rule 5 Draft

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have selected Anthony Bemboom from the Double-A Arkansas roster of the Los Angeles Angels organization in the Minor League phase of the Rule 5 Draft. Additionally, infielder Josh Rutledge was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the Major League phase of the Rule 5 Draft.

NATIONAL HARBOR - The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have selected Anthony Bemboom from the Double-A Arkansas roster of the Los Angeles Angels organization in the Minor League phase of the Rule 5 Draft.
Additionally, infielder Josh Rutledge was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the Major League phase of the Rule 5 Draft.
Bemboom, 26, appeared in 72 games between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Salt Lake City in 2016, batting a combined .222 (53-for-239) with 11 doubles, three triples, one home run and 14 RBI. In 56 starts at catcher, he allowed 33 stolen bases while throwing out 23 baserunners (41%). Originally drafted in the 22nd round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Creighton University, Bemboom has batted .233 (277-for-1,188) with 142 runs, 42 doubles, nine triples, 22 home runs and 148 RBI across five Minor League levels in five seasons.
