The Red Sox are losing a key bat ahead of their four-game set against the Rays, with outfielder heading to the injured list with a sprained right wrist on Thursday. The move is retroactive to May 5.

Catcher/infielder Mickey Gasper is getting the call from Triple-A Worcester to replace Anthony on the 25-man roster.

Anthony, who dealt with back issues a couple of weeks ago, has played in 30 of Boston’s first 37 games. In 109 at-bats, he has a batting line of .229/.354/.321 with one homer and five RBIs. However, he had been showing improved results in the days leading up to the wrist injury.
