Stripling (biceps) set to begin rehab assignment

LOS ANGELES – Dodgers pitcher , whose biceps tendinitis led to the callup and debut of Friday night’s rookie starter Dustin May, threw a bullpen session on Saturday and likely will begin a Minor League rehab assignment on Tuesday night with Class A Rancho Cucamonga.

“He looked good, really good,” manager Dave Roberts said. “Threw all of his pitches. Ball coming out well.”

Stripling said he irritated his biceps tendon trying to compensate for a stiff neck on July 24. The right-handed swingman has split time this year between long relief and spot starting. When he was injured, he had taken over the rotation spot of Rich Hill, who is expected back next month after straining his left flexor muscle.

Roles are unclear for Stripling and Hill when they return.

With May, Tony Gonsolin and Walker Buehler, the Dodgers' starting rotation has three members age 25 or younger.

Worth noting

, who sustained a slight dislocation of his right shoulder diving for a ball while playing first base on May 3, started at first base Saturday night for the first time since June 30.

After the injury, Bellinger had been almost exclusively a right fielder. Roberts said Bellinger will start at first base against right-handed pitching, but he will often return to right field against left-handed starters, with Tyler White or David Freese playing first base against lefties.

With Bellinger back at first base, Joc Pederson has ended his first-base experiment and he started in right field on Saturday.

• Roberts said outfielder , who hasn’t played since Thursday night because of a sore groin, might return to the lineup Sunday or Monday.
