Royals Charities hosts its premiere event Diamond of Dreams on June 10

KANSAS CITY, MO (June 4, 2019) – The Kansas City Royals will host the Boston Red Sox (June 4-6), Chicago White Sox (June 7-9) and Detroit Tigers (June 11-13). On June 10, Royals Charities will host the on-field gala, Diamond of Dreams. Please see below for more details.

Tuesday, June 4 – Boston Red Sox vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

  • Dozier hosts Big Brothers, Big Sisters – Hunter Dozier is teaming up with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City for “Step Up Big with Hunter Dozier.” The third baseman will host 30 participants to the game and will meet them in the Interview Room following Royals batting practice.
  • Diamond of Dreams Auction Now Open – In support of the Royals Charities Diamond of Dreams event taking place on Monday, June 10, the silent auction is now available for fans to check out and bid. Several one-of-kind items and experiences are featured including the opportunity to run in the Hot Dog Derby, a trip to Miami to see the Royals play the Marlins, and a Major League Lawn Makeover from the Royals Grounds Crew. Proceeds from the auction will help bring a Fisher House for veterans in Kansas City. Fans can bid on items whether or not they are at the event. Wednesday, June 5 – Boston Red Sox vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

· Dream Factory – Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wishes of Dream Factory children. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, will meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout and enjoy the game. Their experience appears on KMBC-TV (Channel 9).

· Harvesters Food Drive Launch with Boxberger and Goldberg – The Royals join Price Chopper to support Harvesters – The Community Food Network’s No School=No Lunch program this summer. To launch the program, the Royals will host youth from the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy, a site of the summer lunch program, to the game. After traveling on the FSKC’s Royals Fan Express to the game, Pitcher Brad Boxberger and Broadcaster Joel Goldberg will meet the kids at approximately 5:15 p.m. in the stands. Fans attending Sunday’s White Sox vs. Royals game are encouraged to bring jars of peanut butter to fill collection bins at the gates. Price Chopper will donate an equal number of jars of jelly to Harvesters.

· Cops Are Topps Program Launch – To celebrate the Royals Charities and KCP&L partnership with local law enforcement to distribute special Royals baseball cards to kids, Kansas City, Mo., Police Department uniformed officers will join local volunteers to distribute baseball cards to all fans at the stadium entry gates. During pregame ceremonies, KCP&L representatives will be on-field to present an oversized autographed baseball card to law enforcement officers. For more information, see www.royals.com/cops.

  • **50/50 Raffle presented by Edelman & Thompson **–A portion of the proceeds from the daily Royals Charities fundraiser will benefit Big Slick. Fans, located in Missouri, can also participate in the raffle on-line at www.royals.com/5050.

Saturday, June 8 – Chicago White Sox vs. Royals, 1:15 p.m.

  • MLB Pitch, Hit & Run – Young baseball and softball players will take the Kauffman Stadium field from 8:00-9:30 a.m. to compete in the team championship of the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run competition. This spring, hundreds of thousands of children participated nationwide in the free MLB Pitch, Hit & Run competitions. The top 24 qualifiers from Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Nebraska will compete at ‘The K’ in hopes of advancing to the National Finals at the 2019 MLB All-Star Game in Cleveland.
  • Kids Only Press Conference – As a part of MLB’s PLAY BALL weekend, Royals players and coaches will join preselected children in the Interview Room located on the clubhouse level for a special kids-only press conference. Around 10:30 a.m., kids will ask the players and coaches various questions. Royals players will also wear PLAY BALL shirts during batting practice and youth baseball and softball teams will take center stage during the pregame ceremonies prior to the game.
  • Kennedy to host Group from Folds of Honor – For the third straight season, on each Saturday home game, pitcher Ian Kennedy and his wife, Allison, host a group in a fully-catered Dugout Suite. This day, guests from Folds of Honor will meet Kennedy prior to the game, and each guest will receive a special gift from the family.

Sunday, June 9 – Chicago White Sox vs. Royals, 1:15 p.m.

  • Umps Care – The Royals partner with Major League Baseball umpires to offer memorable baseball experiences for children awaiting adoption and at-risk youth in mentoring programs. The children receive a VIP experience, including complimentary tickets, a baseball goody bag and the unique opportunity to step onto the field for a souvenir baseball and photo.
  • PB&J Harvester’s Food Drive – Local food pantry Harvesters will collect non-perishable food items at the gates prior to the game. Fans are encouraged to bring jars of peanut butter as Price Chopper will match each jar with a jar of jelly.

Monday, June 10 – Off Day

  • Diamond of Dreams – Royals Charities hosts its biggest fundraiser of the year, Diamond of Dreams, on the field at Kauffman Stadium. The annual event features appearances from current and former Royals, a fabulous menu from local restaurants, an exclusive silent auction, a live performance by recording artist Chris Lane, made possible by 106.5 The Wolf, and a spectacular fireworks show. Diamond of Dreams proceeds will benefit Fisher House, which will be built on the Kansas City VA Medical Center’s property. Silent auction items are available until 9:30 p.m. at www.diamond19.givesmart.com. Fans can bid on items whether or not they are at the event.

  • PLAY Clinic – The Royals team up with the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) and Sun Life Financial to host a free PLAY (Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth) clinic at ‘The K’ from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Head athletic trainer Nick Kenney and selected players are scheduled to join members of the Royals sports medicine staff to lead 100 pre-selected youth from the Kansas City, Mo., Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities (RBI) program, Kansas City Urban Youth Academy, Police Athletic League of Kansas City and The National Down Syndrome Society in exercises to promote health and wellness. Additional support will be provided by the Taylor Hooton Foundation, the Henry Schein Cares Foundation and the Ruderman Family Foundation.
  • Dream Factory – Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wishes of Dream Factory children. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, will meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast.

Thursday, June 13 – Detroit Tigers vs. Royals, 7:05 p.m. – Game will be played in Omaha, Neb.
