MILWAUKEE -- Six-time All-Star Ryan Braun was the only Brewers player among the leaders at his position in the first round of the 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot results released Wednesday, running fifth among NL outfielders.
Braun had 448,717 votes, trailing Bryce Harper of the Nationals (838,599), Dexter Fowler of the Cubs (797,160), Yoenis Cespedes of the Mets (792,395) and Jason Heyward of the Cubs (476,595) and in the field of outfielders. The top three vote-getters will form the NL's starting outfield.
After returning to the All-Star Game last summer following a two-year absence, Braun entered Wednesday hitting .348 with 23 runs scored, nine doubles, nine home runs, 31 RBIs, a .420 on-base percentage and a 1.000 OPS.
Missing, however, from the leaderboards were Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy, who is coming off a nine-homer month of May, and shortstop Jonathan Villar, the Major Leagues' stolen base leader.
