Reds agree to terms with Moll, non-tender 3 players for roster space

November 21st, 2025

CINCINNATI – Ahead of Friday's 5 p.m. ET deadline to tender contracts to unsigned players for 2026, the Reds agreed to terms with left-hander on a one-year contract.

Three players were also non-tendered by Cincinnati: Right-handers Carson Spiers and Roddery Muñoz and catcher Will Banfield.

Moll, who turns 34 on Jan. 3, was 1-0 with a 6.38 ERA in 23 appearances over multiple big league stints in 2025. He finished the season at Triple-A Louisville, where he was 0-3 with a 5.00 ERA in 28 games.

The season was a step back from previous seasons.

After being acquired by the Reds from the A's for pitching prospect Joe Boyle on July 31, 2023, Moll posted a 2.31 ERA in his first 73 games and 62 1/3 innings over 2023-24 with Cincinnati.

Moll's contract is worth $875,000 with performance bonuses up to $150,000.

Spiers opened the 2025 season in the Reds' big league rotation and was 0-2 with a 6.08 ERA in three games (two starts) before he went on the injured list April 20 with a right shoulder impingement.

During his rehab assignment with Louisville, Spiers was injured again on July 19 and had season-ending ulnar collateral ligament replacement surgery on his right elbow. He was designated for assignment on Tuesday.

Muñoz was claimed off waivers by the Reds from the Cardinals on Nov. 6.

Banfield was signed to a Minor League contract by the Reds in 2024 and made his big league debut this past season after Tyler Stephenson went on the IL with a fractured left thumb. Banfield appeared in seven games and went 1-for-10.

Cincinnati's 40-man roster is now at 38 players.
