June 30th, 2021

MLB.com is keeping track of a Stat of the Day for the Giants this season, highlighting a unique, interesting or fun nugget from each game.

June 29: Dodgers 3, Giants 1: Free passes add up
Kevin Gausman's five walks on Tuesday were his most as a Giant and the most since he walked a career-high-tying six batters on June 11, 2017, against the Yankees while pitching for the Orioles.

June 28: Dodgers 3, Giants 2 -- Rare skid
The Giants have lost back-to-back games for the first time since being swept at home by the Dodgers from May 21-23. They have yet to lose more than three games in a row this season.

June 27: A's 6, Giants 2 -- Rare quieting of the bats
The Giants’ bats were subdued by A’s left-hander Cole Irvin, who allowed only three hits and struck out eight over eight scoreless innings. Irvin became only the second starter to complete at least eight innings against San Francisco this season, joining the Nationals’ Joe Ross.

June 26: Giants 6, A's 5 (10) -- On a roll
After taking the first two games of the Bay Bridge Series against the A's, the Giants have won or split their last 10 series dating to May 25, tied with the Yankees for the longest such streak this year.

June 25: Giants 2, A's 0 -- Marquee matchup
The Giants and A's came into Friday's matchup with a .623 combined winning percentage, the highest entering a series between the two clubs since Interleague Play beagn in 1997, according to Stats LLC.

June 23: Giants 9, Angels 3 (13 innings) -- Two-way dominance
The Giants threw their 10th pitching shutout of the season in the previous game, and followed that up with the club's 110th and 111th home runs of the season in this one. That put them as the MLB leaders in both categories and on pace to be just the fourth team to finish the season as outright leaders in homers and shutouts, or the ninth team in MLB history to have a share of the lead in both categories. The only other teams to have outright leads in both categories to end the season were the 1911 Athletics, 1944 Cardinals, 1959 Braves and 1978 Brewers.

June 22: Giants 5, Angels 0 -- Giants keep homering at elite clip
Mauricio Dubón and Wilmer Flores both went deep, bringing the Giants' home run total up to 109 through the club's first 73 games. That mark tied the 2000 Giants for the second-most homers through the first 73 games of a season in franchise history. The 1947 Giants are the only team in franchise history to hit more, as they combined to hit 110 through the first 73 games of the '47 season.

June 20: Giants 11, Phillies 2 -- Crawford keeping torrid pace
Brandon Crawford hit his team-high 16th home run of the season and drove in four runs to help carry the Giants offense on Sunday. He now has 48 RBIs over 63 games played this season, the most by any Giants player in his first 63 games of a season since Moisés Alou tallied 48 in 2006.

June 19: Phillies 13, Giants 6 -- Absolutely Belted
Brandon Belt went deep for the second consecutive game, sending a 3-2 knuckle curve from Aaron Nola into McCovey Cove in the third inning for his 11th home run of the year. The splash hit was the 10th of Belt's career and his first since Aug. 29, 2019, against the Padres. Belt joined Barry Bonds (35) as the only Giants to hit double-digit home runs into the Cove.

June 18: Giants 5, Phillies 3 -- 20 games over .500
With Friday's win, the Giants improved to 20 games over .500 (45-25) for the first time since July 19, 2016.

June 17: Giants 10, D-backs 3 -- Race to 100 homers
With Curt Casali's two-run shot off Zac Gallen in the second inning, the Giants reached 100 home runs in their 69th game of the season. That's the third fastest they've reached the 100-homer mark in team history. The only years they reached it quicker were 1947 (67th game) and 2000 (68th game), according to Stats LLC.

June 16: Giants 13, D-backs 7: 5 HRs at home a rare sight
Buster Posey, Steven Duggar, LaMonte Wade Jr., Wilmer Flores and Brandon Belt each homered to propel the Giants to their third consecutive win over the D-backs. The five home runs are the most the Giants have hit in a single game at Oracle Park since April 7, 2003, when they also slugged five against the Padres.

June 15: Giants 9, D-backs 8 -- Duggar's first splash homer
Steven Duggar launched his career-high fifth home run of the season in the second inning, hammering a two-run shot off left-hander Alex Young that landed in McCovey Cove. It was Duggar's first career splash hit and the third of the year for the Giants. Mike Yastrzemski's go-ahead grand slam into the Cove in the eighth was the fourth.

June 14: Giants 5, D-backs 2 -- Clutch Crawford
Brandon Crawford delivered his team-high 15th home run of the year on Monday night, a two-run shot off Matt Peacock that snapped a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning. Ten of Crawford's 15 homers have either given San Francisco the lead or tied the game this season. He's also the fastest Giants shortstop to reach 15 home runs in a season since at least 1901, doing so in his team's 66th game of the year.

June 13: Nationals 5, Giants 0 -- Giants first in NL to 40 wins
With a victory in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader, the Giants became the first National League team to reach 40 wins this season. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, San Francisco (40-25) achieved this feat just two other times in the past 40 years -- 1989 and 2014. It reached the World Series in both of those seasons, too.

June 12: Nationals 2, Giants 0 (Game 1) -- Great run ends
June 12: Giants 2, Nationals 1 (Game 2)
Entering Saturday, for nine straight starts, Kevin Gausman pitched five-plus innings and allowed one or no earned runs to score -- with a 24-inning streak allowing zero earned runs. The second pitch in Game 1 of the doubleheader, he gave up a solo home run, thus ending the string of no earned runs allowed, and he went on to give up two earned runs to end his nine-game streak, tied for the third-longest such streak since the earned run became official in 1913.

June 11: Giants 1, Nationals 0 -- DeSclafani's shutouts
Anthony DeSclafani threw his second shutout of the season, holding the Nationals to two hits while walking one and striking out eight in the 103-pitch gem. He's the first Giants pitcher with multiple shutouts in a season since Johnny Cueto tossed two in 2016.

June 9: Rangers 4, Giants 3 -- Sammy shines in 'Long' relief
Left-hander Sammy Long struck out seven over four-plus innings in his Major League debut on Wednesday. He became the first Giants reliever to whiff at least seven batters in his MLB debut since John Montefusco, who struck out seven over a nine-inning relief appearance on Sept. 3, 1974, against the Dodgers.

June 8: Giants 9, Rangers 4 -- Crawford stands alone
In his 2-HR game, Brandon Crawford made his 1,326th career appearance at shortstop for the Giants, surpassing Hall of Famer Travis Jackson for the most in the franchise's 138-year history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

June 6: Cubs 4, Giants 3 -- First pitch gone
LaMonte Wade Jr. crushed Kyle Hendricks' first pitch of the game out to left field to give the Giants a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning. It was Wade's first career leadoff home run, and the first for San Francisco this year.

June 5: Giants 4, Cubs 3 -- Crawford the Iron Giant
Brandon Crawford made his 1,325th career appearance at shortstop for the Giants on Saturday, tying Hall of Famer Travis Jackson for the most in franchise history.

June 4: Giants 8, Cubs 5 -- Vosler ... in a pinch!
Jason Vosler blasted a pinch-hit home run off Chicago reliever Keegan Thompson to extend the Giants' lead to 7-4 in the fourth inning. San Francisco has seven pinch-hit home runs through its first 57 games this year, the most in the Majors. The franchise record is 14, which was set in 2001.

June 3: Giants 7, Cubs 2 -- DeSclafani snaps skid at dish
Anthony DeSclafani tied the game with an RBI double that sailed over the head of Cubs right fielder Kris Bryant in the fourth inning. The hit snapped an 0-for-40 drought for DeSclafani that dated back to 2019. The 31-year-old right-hander also drew a walk off left-hander Rex Brothers in the sixth.

June 1: Angels 8, Giants 1 -- Wood's rough night
Left-hander Alex Wood was charged with a season-high seven runs over 3 2/3 innings in his shortest start of the year for the Giants. It was the most runs Wood has allowed in a single outing since he gave up seven on Sept. 10, 2018, at Cincinnati.
