Red-hot Gennett gets breather to rest shoulder

May 13th, 2018

LOS ANGELES -- After a torrid week that saw Scooter Gennett hit .591 (13-for-22) with four home runs and 10 RBIs, manager Jim Riggleman is giving Gennett Sunday off.
"Scooter is feeling good. We are kind of having some maintenance with that shoulder," Riggleman said.
Riggleman stressed that there isn't any problem with Gennett's shoulder, which had recently taken him out of the starting lineup for four games.
"It's just a day game after a night game and trying to let his shoulder calm down," he said, adding, "It's getting much better."
Riggleman expects to have Gennett in the starting lineup all three games against the Giants, and then will have another day off as the Reds have a travel day.
