Van Slyke scratched with mild hip flexor

March 20th, 2016

PHOENIX -- Add Scott Van Slyke to the list of the Dodgers' walking wounded, as he was scratched from Sunday's game with a mild hip flexor.
Manager Dave Roberts said Van Slyke will miss two more days and return on Wednesday. Van Slyke had been playing first base while Adrian Gonzalez was with Team Mexico in the World Baseball Classic qualifier. Gonzalez is due back on Monday.
Cody Bellinger started for Van Slyke against the Padres.
• In other medical updates, Andre Ethier was still on crutches after fouling a pitch off his right shin on Friday, but Roberts said Ethier was moving better and still is expected to be ready on Opening Day.
Roberts hasn't backed off that Opening Day timeline for shortstop Corey Seager, who has added hitting to his workload as he recovers from a sprained left knee.
• Hyun-Jin Ryu is scheduled for his next bullpen session on Tuesday, Roberts said.
• Non-roster catcher Shawn Zarraga will miss two days with a bruised left thumb.
