Manaea's DL stint 'could be' extended

MINNEAPOLIS -- A's left-hander , who is on the disabled list with a left shoulder strain, did not throw his scheduled bullpen session at Target Field on Thursday morning, instead playing long toss as the A's slowed his rehab.
A's manager Bob Melvin said Manaea experienced "a little bit of soreness" while throwing from flat ground on Wednesday and noted the team will "play it by ear" when planning a bullpen session.
Melvin, when asked if Manaea's DL stint could subsequently be extended, replied, "Could be." The A's are at least certain he won't return when eligible Sunday; right-hander will make the start against the Tigers at the Coliseum.
Manaea last pitched April 26 in Anaheim, throwing just two innings and 34 pitches before he was pulled because of shoulder discomfort.
Worth Noting
• Rehabbing reliever (right shoulder) threw a 23-pitch bullpen session in Minneapolis on Thursday morning, reporting no issues. Melvin expects the veteran to throw one more bullpen before facing hitters.
