Robinson, Cessa sent down; Peterson returns

The Yankees optioned right-hander and outrighted outfielder to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday. On Monday, the Yankees signed free-agent infielder-outfielder to a Major League contract.
Peterson, who was designated for assignment last week by New York and elected free agency in lieu of accepting an outright assignment on Monday morning, will be active for tonight's game against the Marlins at Yankee Stadium. He is 3-for-9 in two games with the Yankees this season.
Cessa was originally slated to start the Yankees' matchup against the Tigers on Saturday before it was postponed, and he was penciled in to start Game 1 of a doubleheader Sunday before that was postponed as well. The 25-year-old will now head back to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, having made two scoreless appearances for New York so far in 2018. is now scheduled to start the opener against the Marlins.
The 33-year-old Robinson has appeared in two games for the Yankees, going 1-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base. The outfielder is playing his ninth Major League season.
